What is Success?

'Success'. One word that's mouth-watering to many a people. People want success. People want to be successful. They go full throttle for that. But what exactly is success? With how much clarity are people pursuing success?

Does success mean having everything you want? But is there an end to what you want?

Does success mean achieving highest levels of knowledge? But is there any end to how much knowledge is achievable?

Does success mean achieving the highest amount of power? But what exactly does 'power' mean? That's a topic for another discussion.

Does success mean having as much money as you want? But is there an end to how much money you want or you can have?

Does success mean having peace of mind? But is peace of mind an end in itself?

Success actually means being constantly able to evolve towards better and better quality of life. The transformation from being in a state of pursuance to a state of expression. Success is a state where you no longer need anything. No matter whatever happens or not happens, it doesn't affect you in any way. You have reached a state where you have the freedom to choose the way you want to be irrespective whatever happens to you or whatever you posses or not possess.

Of course, that is one way of looking at it.

In general terms, successful people are identified as those who strived for certain attainment and in the end attained what they strived for.

There are people who have achieved success in their businesses, careers, professions, elections, competitions, examinations, tournaments, championships, farming, love-life, technology, innovations, wars and battles, research and lot more.

What is Power?

Many people often strive to achieve power. But what exactly is power?

Power apparently seems to be a facet of Human Experience. When one feels the possession of the ability to a certain thing, he feels the availability of that power or feels powerful in that aspect.

Based on this, there are different types of power people generally go after. There is money power. There is brain power. There is the power of knowledge. There is physical muscular power. There is weaponry power. There is political power. There is organisational power. There is people power. There is mind power. There is emotional power. There is creative power. There is influential power. There is endurance power. The list goes on. And then, there is the Ultimate power of being.

Money Power

Money gives the power to buy what they want. The more money a person has, the more is his buying power. This is one of the most common thing people go after. This often is thought of as the most deterministic factor in the scheme of things. But as discussed here, Money, can't buy everything.

Brain Power

Having more brain power means to be more intelligent. It means having more capability to think and arrive at better outcomes. Having better capability in problem solving and producing solutions. Either for himself or for the society and the world. Such people may be sought after by people having more money power or other kinds of power but have lesser intelligence to compliment their own weakness. Other people seek them to use the power of brainy people to figure out ways to move ahead in their own aspirations.

The Power of Knowledge

Of course, the more you know, the more you can do. One can also say that, the power of knowledge is largely made irrelevant in today's world. Mainly because of overflowing of information in the internet. Almost everyone has access to almost all the knowledge the world has so far acquired.

Muscular Power

This refers to strength in the physical body one possesses to carry out physical work. The ability to engage in physical skirmish and win over. The raw muscular power to carry out large amount of physical activity. Also to protect and safeguard assets by means of physical presence.

Weaponry or Tool Power

Weapon power or tool power is only a slight extension of the muscular power. It refers to the possession of certain weapons or certain tools which enhances the capability to accomplish certain tasks to multifold levels.

Political Power

This is power of people in politics or of people who rule a society. It can be a rule within a small group of people or a province or a whole nation or the whole World in some way. Possession of this kind of power gives people access to certain kinds of choices and actions.

Organisational Power

Organisational power or positional power as it can also be called, is the level of power entitled by virtue of the position held in an organisation. At different levels of hierarchy in an organisation, different people will have different levels of power. Here, it can be financial powers, which means the quantum of organisational funds the individual is allowed to spend at his own liberty. Or it can be the quantum of number of people within the organisation one can command. It can also be the quantum of the facilities allowed to an individual for that level of position, if that is one's aspiration.

People Power

Having a lot of people under their disposal makes certain individuals to feel powerful. The people under them may serve them due to various reasons like money, position, fear, love and simply due to the dominant nature of the personality. Using people power, one can gain many things like political power, money power, muscle power etc.,

Mind Power

Often mysterious, mind power is the ability to make things happen in life by using the power of mind. It is being told and claimed that it is possible to manifest things using mind power. Lot of things are spoken and written about this. But it is not widely known as to how many people have really been able to harvest it.

But a much known variant is the one which is commonly addressed as mental strength. Which enables people to go through peaks and bottoms of life situations with minimum disturbances and see through life with minimum efforts.

Emotional Power

There are quite a few people who have the knack of making things happen emotionally. They strike the right chord in communication to invoke the right emotions in people and getting things done. The famous example can be that of Winston Churchill. In the same note, the infamous example is of course, Adolf Hitler!. One other variant which many people have successfully employed is the 'emotional blackmail'. People are hostages of their own emotions and are forced to do things which they don't want to.

Creative Power

The power to create! When one talks about creativity, it is often related to fine arts like music, paintings, dance etc. But the power to create is really the power to create anything. The power to create a large business house. An academy. An institution. A nation. Or even a small germination. With true creative power, one can create anything. At the top of it, is the ability to create things out of absolutely nothing.

Influential Power

Influential power the power to influence certain behaviour in individual person or small or large groups of people. It is a skill, art and craft to do this. It can be done in so many ways. It can be done by persuading people. It can be done by setting a role model or living bg example. It can be done in subtle ways or it can be done in gross ways. Interestingly, it can be done even silently, without the knowledge of the people being influenced.

Endurance Power

Whatever power one may have, there is always the question of how long it can be sustained. Because whatever power one may have, one does not have any power over 'time'. Time is unidirectional. Time keeps on slipping away. Thus how long one can sustain power is also a measure of power one possesses.

There is also another kind of endurance power. This is sort of an idea of how long a person can endure a weakness or vulnerability or, in this context, let's say, lack of power. How long a person can endure the effects of not having certain power for himself. That before he gives up or collapses. Because enduring itself needs certain amount of strength. Endurance is a strong indicator of a person's strength.

Perceptive Power

It is highly subtle and sophisticated power to perceive what is around. As complete as one can. The more true perception one has about the things that are around, the more effective one can craft his choices and actions towards the end that he wants. One needs to have sharp sensitivity to sense and perceive the things that exist in the surroundings. The level of development of such sensitivity can be a game changer among equals who all have similar level of strengths in all other aspects. It is a truly powerful and effective instrument to make headway in one's aspirations.

Skill Power

Certain people have mastery over their own unique skills that makes them powerful. For example highly skilled magician can wield lot of power over people who will be willing to yield to him. There are cases where a highly skilled sports star or a cinema star can more deterministically decide a state's political leadership than a seasoned politician. To such an extent that the state's leaders will be at the whim and fancy of the star.

Use of power

Whatever kind of power one possesses, it is always possible to use them in a positive way or a negative way. In a good way or a bad way. In a supportive way or a detrimental way. Towards well-being or ill-being. While 'power' itself can do so many things, what it actually does depends on whose hands it is.

Bottomline

From a wholesome perspective, all the above are not independent of each other. One type of power can often be willed to yield another type of power. For example, it is possible to acquire the power of people by luring people with money power or forcing them using muscular power or weaponry power. But as mentioned earlier, it is not always possible also. It requires certain level mastery and application to play with different combinations of power.

With the existence of these kinds of powers, how does one really acquire them? Is it inborn? Can one learn to achieve them? Can one train to acquire them? Well the answer is, it requires a combination of factors, including but not limited to your own efforts and striving, to work in favour you.

The power of being

The ultimate power one can attain. The power of being. The power of simply being. The ultimate source of who you are. You! For, the potential of who you are is limitless!

Money can't buy everything

It is well known that money can't buy everything. Surely money can buy many things. But not everything. The often popular rhetorics go like this:

  • Money can buy you bed, but it can't buy you sleep
  • Money can buy you friends, but it can't buy you friendship
  • Money can buy lovers, but it can't buy you love
  • Money can buy you medicine, but it can't buy health

... and the sayings go on.

But here, I am talking about things even within the reach of money. Things which are theoretically very much possible for money to buy you, but yet it can't. Just because no one sells them.

Because they are niche. More Niche than Niche!!

More luxurious than the present level of luxury present in world today.

More sophisticated than the world can think off presently.

Let me take an example of a luxury automobile. Many many different auto companies are out there catering to the luxury buyers. Each one offers variety of features and varying levels of sophistications. But if someone wants of specific set of combinations of features available in different models or a combination thought out on his own, it is simply not possible!! Sounds insane! Possible only if one is ready to spend the money it takes to build his own company or model having that specific set of combination that he is looking for!!

Another example is the luxury mobile phone segment. I had been using Brand-A phone for few years. I wanted to switch over to Brand-B for various reasons. Some of them being the brand image, style and show-worthiness. The quotient of Brand-A stands rather low on these parameters. But I have subscription to two carriers and Brand-A features easy incorporation of two SIM cards. But the so-called market leader and technological superpower Brand-B has no way of allowing me to continue using two sims if I switch over. Not without lots of hassles and haggling with teleco service providers.

Huff! Talk about money!!

Money is supposed to work for you. But all that is practically happening in today's world is that you are working for someone else's money.

Achilles heels

Everyone has a pair of heels. Achilles had too. Unfortunate for him that his heels where not touched or treated by the mystical secret of invincibility. And eventually led him to his downfall.

It has come to general custom to refer such weakness in person as Achilles heels. A single weakness in spite of thorough all round strength. It is also used to indicate the single point failure possibilities in engineering systems.

But here we are primarily talking about such attributes in real people.

Every one of us would one time or other come across such situations. Everything might seem to go well except for one damn thing. And that one thing will keep haunting.

It can be an unfulfilled desire. Or it can be a guilt. Or it can be health issue. Or can it be a career position. It can be anything that haunts the mind.

It also becoming super encompassing. It can also completely engulf all aspects of a person including his body, mind, emotions and all his daily activities, domestic life and everything.

Sometimes, those things would wear out and naturally fade away. Life situations taking forcefully us in different directions may make us gradually move out such prickings. Or sometimes, one's own wilful efforts to change their life directions can ease us. But whatever we do, at the fundamental level, we know that its not gone unless it is specifically treated to. We can just pretend that it is not there.

But how to overcome that? Apparently, there is no way to overcome it. Eventually it will eat us out. It will continue to exist until it is specifically treated to removed. But, apparently, it is also said that, even though it may continue to trouble us, it is totally the choice of the individual to get troubled or not.

In other words, the particular weakness can make us vulnerable and prone to get affected. But actually getting affected or not is completely within our hands. At least that is what is being spread across as highest wisdom, about which we will be talking often in other posts.

It is said that the first and foremost thing is to accept the existence of the weakness, at least within ourselves if not to anyone else. Rest let us see in other related posts.

Exploring Chronicler

Hi All! Thanks for visiting My Site!!

I would like to introduce myself as an exploring chronicler. All the articles in this site will be chronicles of personal exploration.

Why do this?

  • They are all set of learnings and experiences I went through in my life
  • I think it will give a different perspective other than the regular ones to seemingly familiar situations in life
  • I also feel it will appease those who are sort of lost in the wilderness and various shackles of life. Through these series of article I hope to shower guiding beams of light to such folks so that they can figure a way out

INSURANCE

Life and Otherwise....

Insurance in the subject matter of Solicitation.

— To yield or to not to.

The entire idea behind this site is to explore life. And why not life insurance!!

The most highly repeated argument in favour of life insurance is that the family and loved ones would be struggling after your death if your life was not insured. I tend to ask what if the family is already wealthy??

Another argument is that Life Insurance is an investment option. And I have heard equally if not more emphatically that life insurance is not at all an investment option. It is only a security fund for the survivors and nominees incase of the policy holder's death.

Talking about insurance, it is that only 'life', that insurance is offered to. For so many things, ranging from Health, house, automobiles, two wheelers, house, travel, insurance is offered. Not to mention rockets and satellites. Apparently space agencies pay hefty premiums for insuring their space assets during development, launch and post-launch.

And it is always a pain in the 'you-know-what' to settle the claims! Before enrolling you, they will spell out all sorts of golden promises on what are the cases and claims they cover for and how easy it would be to settle the claims. And when actual need arises, you will be told thousand and more reasons of why that claim is not covered and cannot be paid, obviously showing all the micro printed statements which you signed without even reading.

Adding to that, it is compulsory under the law in certain parts of the world to have an insurance for life or other items. Which is sort of breach of individual's right to make his own choices. At least I cant fathom why it should be made compulsory for having a vehicle insurance. And they most likely they are of no use when it is really required or it will be a struggle to get the expenses covered.
